The NBA’s trade deadline on Feb. 8 is looming, and the Phoenix Suns are reportedly actively involved in trade discussions.
According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo!, the Suns are frequently brought up as one of the more active teams in the trade market. Their focus is on securing rotational improvements to support their Big Three of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. Additionally, there is openness within the Suns organization to trade Grayson Allen and Nassir Little, as per Fischer’s report.
Grayson Allen has emerged as a vital component for Phoenix, contributing with resilient defense and timely three-point shooting, which has been instrumental in the Suns achieving their current record of 22-18.
Given Phoenix’s financial constraints, limitations in player value (excluding the big three), and restricted draft assets in the open market, any trade scenario that brings value back to the team would likely involve the departure of Grayson Allen.
According to Arizona Sports insider John Gambadoro, he does not anticipate Grayson Allen being traded by the Suns. In fact, if Allen continues to perform at a high level, Gambadoro wouldn’t be surprised if the Suns make an effort to re-sign him in the offseason. He mentioned in a recent tweet that the Suns could retain Allen and compensate him by paying the luxury tax if necessary.
