Several individuals have been linked to the offensive and defensive coordinator roles with the New England Patriots. Recent reports reveal that the Patriots have conducted interviews with Shane Waldron for the offensive coordinator position and Gerald Alexander for the defensive coordinator role, adding two more relatively unknown candidates to the list. This information comes from Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.

Shane Waldron, who previously held the position of offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks under former head coach Pete Carroll, has recently been appointed as the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears. Albert Breer reported on Tuesday that Waldron was highly sought after and in “high demand.”

Gerald Alexander, who spent the last two seasons as the assistant defensive backs coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is being considered for the defensive coordinator role with the New England Patriots. However, according to Breer, even if Alexander doesn’t secure the position, there remains a possibility that he could still join the Patriots’ coaching staff in a different capacity.

According to Albert Breer, DeMarcus Covington is considered a “strong favorite” for the defensive coordinator position with the New England Patriots. Covington has been part of the Patriots staff since 2017 and has been serving as the defensive line coach for the past four seasons. If selected, he would be stepping into the role of defensive coordinator for the team.
