The conclusion of the recent season saw the Green Bay Packers grabbing attention by finishing with a strong 6-2 record, clinching a playoff spot. They delivered a notable victory over the favored Dallas Cowboys before being eliminated in the subsequent round by the Super Bowl-bound San Francisco 49ers.

Despite having one of the youngest teams to win a playoff game since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, the squad displayed impressive performance and steadily gained confidence throughout the season. Quarterback Jordan Love, initially a subject of scrutiny among fans and media, lived up to expectations, exhibiting maturity as the leader of the emerging offensive unit.

However, despite the promising outlook in Green Bay, there are areas that require improvement. If a Super Bowl run, or at the very least, a deeper playoff advancement, is on the horizon, addressing weaknesses becomes crucial for the team’s immediate success.

A vulnerability lies in the safety position, with the potential departure of Darnell Savage to free agency, along with Jonathan Owens and Christian Uphoff. Given the Green Bay Packers’ historical tendency to avoid significant free agency acquisitions, it seems unlikely that they would opt for high-profile signings to replenish the position.

Yet, a potential solution to address the vacancies could come in the form of a trade. The Green Bay Packers might explore acquiring an impact player, and the Arizona Cardinals’ six-time Pro Bowl safety, Budda Baker, stands out as a viable option.

The seven-year veteran is currently in the final year of his 4-year, $59 million contract with Arizona. Acquiring Budda Baker might seem an unconventional move for the Packers’ front office, known for its conservative approach to acquisitions. This is particularly noteworthy given the team’s current cap space of less than $8 million, as per Over the Cap.
