According to many in his inner circle, 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is no longer content in San Francisco. Following the team’s overtime Super Bowl loss, the wideout’s fiancée and best friend vented their emotions online.

During the course of the game, Aiyuk was targeted six times and made three catches for 49 yards. People close to him think he should have had a bigger say in the strategy.

For Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey, however, it was just a game. CMC contributed, gaining a touchdown on a team-high 30 touches in addition to 160 yards.

But Samuel only managed to hit three of his eleven team-high targets.

Perhaps involving Aiyuk more might have helped the offense pick up some steam rather than forcing Deebo.

It’s not like he missed all of the events this year. In 2023, the wide receiver had his best pro campaign, catching 75 passes for a career-high 1,342 yards. The team was led by both Marks.

His amazing circus catch in the NFC Championship helped ignite a three-score comeback against Detroit as his success carried over into the postseason.

He was sadly unable to have a significant influence at the Super Bowl, and some close to him believe this could have an impact on his future.

Aiyuk’s fiancée and best buddy both made suggestions that his stay in San Francisco was about to end.

His friend posted on Instagram, “Why does your All-Pro 1,300-yard wide receiver have three catches in the Super Bowl?” “This is precisely the rationale behind our departure from San Francisco.”

That appearance seemed to be confirmed by Aiyuk’s girlfriend.

“Next season, we might not be out here.”

In a cryptic social media statement, Brandon Aiyuk himself said, “Don’t forget what got you here,” taking aim at the offensive for overlooking him on the grandest stage.

Over the past two seasons, Brandon Aiyuk has flourished in Kyle Shanahan‘s scheme, totaling 153 catches and 2,357 yards. San Francisco probably doesn’t want to forfeit that output after eventually benefiting from the 2020 NFL Draft selection.

Furthermore, even though Aiyuk may not have been thrilled with his reduced playing time during the Super Bowl, it might have been better for him to stay with a strong offensive unit rather than leave for a non-contender.

Though things look awry right now, we’ll soon see how it plays out.
