The Seattle Seahawks are in the midst of their first summer under Mike Macdonald, and naturally, the first task is to assemble the coaching staff. Insider reports have indicated a number of staff additions, but until Tuesday afternoon, when the organization formally confirmed the hiring of seven assistant coaches, no official announcement had been made by the team regarding any assistant coach hires.
The coaches included in the release are those who had already been rumored to be hired by the team, but they are now officially named. The seven coaches that were revealed on Tuesday are:
Assistant Head Coach Leslie Frazier, Coordinator of Offenses Coach Ryan Grubb, offensive lineman Defense Coordinator Scott Huff Aden Durde
Defensive Backs and the Coordinator of the Defensive Passing Game Karl Scott, the inside linebackers’ coach Jay Harbaugh, Coordinator of Special Teams, Kirk Olivadotti
In case there’s any doubt as to who should take responsibility moving forward, the Seahawks’ release also states that John Schneider’s formal title is now President of Football Operations and General Manager.
Fans may at least be certain that the coaches that have reportedly been hired are now formal members of the staff, even though there is still a substantial portion of the coaching staff to be assembled.
