Georgia missed out on another SEC Championship and a College Football Playoff berth by just three points. Rather, the 12-1 Bulldogs had to make do with a rout of a depleted Florida State squad in the Orange Bowl. Carson Beck, the quarterback, is among the players who have decided to return for their last season due to the anguish and frustration of nearly achieving a three-peat. In addition, they managed to secure the top class in the country and acquired several significant transfers. Because of these factors, ESPN’s Way-Too-Early Top 25 rankings had the Bulldogs as the number one team.

“After coach Kirby Smart reloaded with another No. 1-ranked recruiting class and a few significant additions from the transfer portal, they’ll be right back in the mix this season,” Mark Schlabach of ESPN said. Georgia has a team that can definitely compete for the top spot, but will they be able to dominate a schedule that is extremely challenging? Georgia’s 2024 schedule includes six teams ranked in the top 25: @ Texas, @ Alabama, @ Ole Miss, Tennessee, (N) Clemson, and @ Kentucky. There will only be one of the games in Athens.
