Emil Bemstrom, a winger, was acquired by the Pittsburgh Penguins from Columbus in exchange for forward Alex Nylander and a 2026 conditional sixth-round selection pick.
Should Bemstrom score six goals for the Penguins in the remaining games of this season, that draft choice turns into a third-round selection.
Benstrom, 24, has played in 32 games for the Blue Jackets this season, tallying five goals and six assists. Additionally, in eight games with their American Hockey League club in Cleveland, he scored ten goals and provided four assists.
His deal, which expires after this season, has a $900,000 salary-cap hit.
At six feet and 195 pounds, Bemstrom has played in 204 games for Columbus, scoring 31 goals and dishing out 38 assists. He has played in 33 games with Cleveland over the course of three seasons, tallying 26 goals and 21 assists.
In the 2017 NHL Draft, the Blue Jackets selected Bemstrom in the fourth round.
