The Reds organization appears to maintain belief in reliever Tejay Antone. Pitching coach Derek Johnson conveyed optimism regarding the frequently injured yet skilled reliever. Johnson emphasized that if Antone remains healthy, he will have opportunities to pitch. Antone has demonstrated effectiveness, even reaching elite levels, whenever he has appeared in the big leagues. Thus, the focus for the team is on keeping Antone healthy throughout the season, as he is considered a significant contributor to the club’s success.

Selected in the fifth round of the 2014 draft, Tejay Antone had limited participation in the 2023 season, pitching just 5.2 innings across five games. However, in his career spanning 41 games, he has maintained an impressive 2.41 ERA over 74.1 innings, with 94 strikeouts to his credit. Antone has faced numerous injury setbacks, including undergoing two Tommy John surgeries. Despite these challenges, there’s optimism that he can recover and contribute significantly to the Reds’ quest for a playoff berth this season.
