Longoria’s versatility would allow him to serve as both Boston’s designated hitter and provide support at third base for Rafael Devers, all while offering veteran leadership in the clubhouse. With the departure of Justin Turner, not only did the Red Sox lose one of their top offensive contributors from the 2023 season, but also a key presence in the clubhouse.
Bringing in someone like Longoria could help fill this void. As a 16-year veteran in the league, Longoria brings a wealth of experience and success to the table. Additionally, due to his age of 38, he may come at a reasonable cost.
As Boston continues to explore options to bolster their roster, Longoria emerges as a potential candidate who could make a significant impact.
