The Boston Red Sox appear to be prioritizing contract extensions for their emerging young talents. In recent years, the team faced challenges in retaining homegrown stars like Mookie Betts and Xander Bogaerts, leading to their departures. However, the Red Sox seem to be adopting a different approach this time around, with indications that they are open to negotiating extensions with players such as Brayan Bello and Triston Casas.

Among the pair, Bello appears to be closer to reaching an agreement. Recent developments suggest that discussions have intensified, raising expectations for a deal to be finalized soon.

On the other hand, Casas has also been the subject of extension rumors during Spring Training. However, he appears to be further from securing a deal. Earlier in camp, there were suggestions that talks were ongoing but that both parties were yet to align on terms.

It appears that the situation remains unchanged, with the two sides reportedly not resuming contract discussions, as indicated by WEEI’s Rob Bradford.

“Triston Casas mentioned that there haven’t been any new extension talks with the Red Sox,” Bradford stated. “I’m not sure if they’re close to finalizing a deal with Brayan Bello, but there haven’t been any discussions or progress at this point.”

It seems likely that Bello is nearing a contract agreement, which could pave the way for renewed discussions with Casas in the near future. It appears that Boston is keen on retaining both players for the long term.

While a deal may not be reached before Opening Day, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the two sides resume discussions at a later time.
