The New England Patriots have reportedly inked a deal with seasoned defensive tackle Armon Watts, formerly of the Pittsburgh Steelers, as per multiple sources within the league.

Aged 27, Watts has established himself as a reliable force in interior pass-rushing over his initial five seasons in the league, accumulating 8.5 sacks and 140 tackles during this period.

The acquisition of Watts bolsters the Patriots’ defensive line with an experienced presence capable of consistently delivering impactful performances. Notably, Pro Football Focus highlights Watts’ contribution of 16 quarterback pressures in the previous season, suggesting he will be poised to secure significant playing time amidst the Patriots’ revamped front seven.

Watts showcased his prowess during the 2023 season, arguably marking the peak of his career trajectory.

Even before the commencement of the 2023 campaign, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin expressed admiration for Watts, acknowledging his professional demeanor and consistent availability.

According to Pro Football Focus, Watts emerged as the Steelers’ most improved player, boasting a commendable overall grade of 76.2 by the conclusion of the season. Notably, his performance in run defense garnered particular praise, suggesting the potential for increased playing time in the upcoming 2024 season.

Originally selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft from Arkansas, Watts brings a wealth of experience to the field.
