The Boston Red Sox had a busy week, playing against a variety of teams including the New York Yankees, Minnesota Twins, Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Orioles, Atlanta Braves, and Tampa Bay Rays. They finished the week with a 4-3-1 record, securing wins against the Yankees (twice), Twins, and Rays, while suffering losses to the Twins, Phillies, and Orioles. Their overall spring record improved to 15-10-2.
In terms of prospects, Marcelo Mayer had a notable performance. He recorded a hit, which was a double, in one at-bat during the week. However, he faced some challenges in the Spring Breakout game, going 0-4 with three strikeouts.
OF Roman Anthony had an impressive week, hitting .667 with a 1.467 OPS. He scored two runs, drew two walks, and in the Spring Breakout game, he went 0-2 but managed to draw two walks and score a run.
C Kyle Teel did not see action last week but had a strong performance in the Spring Breakout game, going 2-2 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.
OF/SS Ceddanne Rafaela had a productive week, playing in five games and going 5-14 with three doubles, an RBI, and two runs scored. Throughout the spring, he is hitting .277 with a .907 OPS, tallying three home runs, eight RBIs, six runs scored, and two stolen bases. In the Spring Breakout game, he went 1-2 with a three-run home run.
2B Nick Yorke appeared in three games last week before being assigned to minor league camp, where he went 0-4. He’s currently batting .091 with a .322 OPS this spring, scoring two runs. In the Spring Breakout game, Yorke went 2-2 with a double and an RBI.
OF Miguel Bleis is not participating with the Red Sox in Fort Myers. In the Spring Breakout game, he went 0-1 with a walk, a run scored, and a strikeout.
RHP Wikelman Gonzalez was assigned to Triple-A after posting a 0-0 record with a 3.86 ERA, a 2.57 WHIP, and five strikeouts in 2.1 innings this spring. In the Spring Breakout game, he started and pitched three scoreless innings without allowing a hit; however, he walked three and struck out one.
RHP Richard Fitts is also not with the Red Sox in Fort Myers. Fitts pitched three innings in the Spring Breakout game, giving up two runs on two hits, walking one, and striking out three.
SS/2B Mikey Romero and RHP Luis Perales are not participating with the Red Sox in Fort Myers either.
