Peter Daicos, a celebrated figure in Australian sports, made his mark with a remarkable 250-game career solely with the Collingwood Magpies in the AFL.

Following his retirement in 1994, Peter shifted his focus to his personal life and burgeoning family. However, his strong connection to the Collingwood Football Club endured, largely due to his two sons.

Now, three decades after stepping away from football, the 62-year-old AFL icon is embracing a new challenge by participating in the 2024 season of “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!”

As fans tune in to watch Peter on the screen, there is curiosity about his life beyond the sporting arena, particularly concerning his family. Here, we delve into the details about the Daicos family.

Peter Daicos is married to his wife, Colleen, with their relationship believed to have begun in the early 1990s. However, specific dates and details about their journey together remain limited.

Together, Peter and Colleen have three children—a daughter and two sons.

Josh Daicos, aged 25, and Nick Daicos, aged 21, have both followed in their father’s footsteps, forging careers as players for the Collingwood AFL team.

Josh joined the team through the 2016 draft, accumulating over 100 appearances for the club, while Nick, selected in the 2021 draft, recently reached his 50-game milestone. The Daicos brothers proudly continued the family legacy by securing the 2023 AFL Premiership with Collingwood.

Reflecting on his role in nurturing his sons’ AFL talents, Peter shared insights with SEN, highlighting the importance of actively participating in their sports endeavors.

“I continually involved myself in my kids’ sports, whether as a coach or simply by being present,” Peter remarked. “Taking them to football games, even involving them in my commentary work, exposed them to the game’s excitement. We’d then spend time together practicing in the yard or living room.”

Peter’s dedication to supporting and guiding his sons underscores the enduring bond between the Daicos family and the sport of AFL.

Peter Daicos and his wife Colleen also have a daughter named Madison, who is the eldest among their children.

At 32 years old, Madison had the opportunity to attend some of her father’s AFL games before his retirement in 1994. Peter fondly recalls one cherished memory with his daughter, which occurred during his final game for Collingwood.

“I had the chance to run a lap with my daughter at the MCG. Initially, the AFL denied my request, but I decided to take matters into my own hands. I told my wife, ‘Forget it, just hand her over to me.’ As I made my way around the field, halfway through, she passed Maddie over to me. There’s a memorable image of me running with Maddie, and she looks like Superman with the number 35 on her back,” Peter shared during his appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
