The impending 2024 NFL Draft has sparked excitement among Green Bay Packers fans, who eagerly anticipate the team’s moves to bolster their roster with new talent.

Beyond the customary mock drafts and prospect analyses, an intriguing aspect of the Packers’ draft strategy has come to light. A recent analysis, facilitated by Arjun Menon’s tool, sheds light on the team’s draft tendencies over the past decade.

Examining the Packers’ draft history reveals distinct preferences. They favor taller wide receivers, with an average height of 6’1.1 inches, and hefty running backs, averaging 224.5 pounds—among the highest in the league.

Additionally, Green Bay tends to select offensive linemen with a background in tackle play, ranking highly in the “short shuttle average for the tackle position.”

When it comes to the defensive line, the Packers prioritize speed, boasting the third-fastest average 40-yard dash time and the second-quickest 10-yard split for interior linemen.

In the cornerback position, Green Bay opts for players with solid agility, evident in their average three-cone time and second short shuttle time. They tend to avoid smaller cornerbacks.

For safeties, the Packers prefer prospects with impressive speed, with an average 40-yard dash time ranking second in the league.

Overall, the Packers gravitate towards big, athletic players—a characteristic valued in the physically demanding NFL landscape.

With 11 picks in the upcoming draft, including five in the top 100, the Packers have ample opportunity to address key positions such as safety, inside linebacker, and offensive tackle.

Considering their past drafting tendencies, it’s likely that Green Bay will continue to prioritize athleticism and size as they seek to enhance their promising roster further.
