The St. Louis Cardinals have shown inconsistency at the beginning of the 2024 season.

With a current record of 9-9, they sit at the bottom of the National League Central. However, they’re only two games behind the Milwaukee Brewers, who lead the division.

The Cardinals possess considerable talent, but injuries have taken a toll on the team this season.
While they’ve demonstrated glimpses of their potential, they’ve struggled to maintain consistency.

Given the injuries suffered, bolstering the team’s depth could be beneficial.

The importance of experienced depth has been highlighted by the numerous injuries, making someone like former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Mitch White a sensible option for the Cardinals.

Mitch White, recently designated for assignment by the Blue Jays, is now available for waiver claims by other teams. If claimed, the team must add him to their 40-man roster immediately.

Alternatively, if unclaimed, he could choose free agency or head to the minors. Despite not being a household name, White brings five seasons of MLB experience and could provide additional depth for St. Louis.

If acquired by the Cardinals, he could start in the minors and be called up if further injuries occur.

Acquiring someone like White may not have a huge impact on St. Louis, but he could still provide assistance.
