Established as the oldest national soccer tournament in the United States, the U.S. Open Cup features a diverse array of professional, semi-professional, and amateur teams vying for the esteemed U.S. Open Cup title and an automatic spot in the following year’s Concacaf Champions Cup tournament. The 2024 edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup will showcase 96 teams representing various levels of competition, including eight MLS clubs, competing in a total of 95 matches spanning from March to September.
This marks the fifth appearance for LAFC in the illustrious U.S. Open Cup competition. The club’s most notable run in the tournament occurred in 2018 when they advanced to the semifinal stage.
