The Minnesota Vikings have been making headlines recently, with GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah reportedly taking a very aggressive approach in trade discussions, aiming to secure a top-five position to acquire a new franchise quarterback.

However, regardless of who they bring in, they will also need a reliable target to catch passes. While they currently have one of the best receivers in the league in Justin Jefferson, his contract extension remains unresolved, leading to speculation about his satisfaction with the team’s handling of the situation, especially in light of Kirk Cousins’ departure.

Adofo-Mensah has expressed the Vikings’ belief in Jefferson’s status as the top wide receiver in the league and their intention to compensate him accordingly. NFL insider Mike Florio has called out the organization, urging them to stop any potential gamesmanship and ensure Jefferson receives the appropriate compensation.

He emphasized that resolving Jefferson’s contract situation should be straightforward, and if the Vikings are not prepared to meet his expectations, they should consider trading him to a team that will.

Florio argues that Jefferson’s impact on the field elevates him to a level that transcends positions other than quarterback. He suggests that the Vikings should consider matching Nick Bosa’s $34 million salary, making Jefferson tied for the highest-paid non-quarterback player in the league.

While this move could potentially disrupt the wide receiver market, especially with other standout receivers like Ja’Marr Chase and CeeDee Lamb awaiting contract extensions, Jefferson’s exceptional talent justifies the risk. If the Vikings are unwilling to meet his demands, Florio suggests that another team will eagerly pay him what he’s worth.
