Before starting his journey with Duke basketball, Isaiah Evans is savoring the recognition he earned as a standout player in public school basketball. Throughout his remarkable high school career, Evans, a forward for North Meck High School (N.C.), dazzled fans with his skills on the court, leading his team to a state championship. Known for his bold trash talk and impressive scoring abilities, Evans frequently racked up 30, 40, or even 60 points in games.

Now, as the 6-foot-6, 170-pound “Showtime Slim” McDonald’s All-American, Evans is taking a moment to reflect on his accomplishments. And what better way to do so than at a ceremony honoring the retirement of his jersey number?

On Sunday afternoon, a video from the North Meck Hoops social media account captured Evans’ well-deserved moment, confirming that he is the last player to wear the No. 0 jersey at North Meck.

However, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Evans donning the No. 0 jersey again as soon as next season. With the number becoming available at Duke following the departure of freshman sensation Jared McCain to the NBA, Evans may reclaim the number on the court.

Ranked No. 15 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, Isaiah Evans is the third-highest ranked recruit among the six incoming players in Duke’s highly regarded recruiting class. Joining Evans are other talented prospects, including Cooper Flagg, Khaman Maluach, Kon Knueppel, Patrick Ngongba II, and Darren Harris.
