Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to play in Saudi Arabia came as a surprise, but it was also somewhat expected given his age and career stage.

Transitioning to Al Nassr a couple of years before turning 40 seemed like a reasonable decision, with many speculating that it could be his final destination to conclude his illustrious career. However, there’s also speculation that the Portuguese superstar may eventually join LAFC in the United States.

Luis Mateus, the owner of the American club Rockford Raptors, has voiced his desire to see Ronaldo in America. In an interview compiled by @MousaQi on X, Mateus expressed his hope that Ronaldo would eventually come to the United States, despite initially settling in Portugal.

He believes that the MLS would greatly benefit from Ronaldo’s presence, particularly if he were to join teams like the New England Revolution or LAFC.

While Mateus acknowledges that Ronaldo may ultimately decide to end his career in Portugal, he believes there’s a possibility that the 39-year-old could eventually make his way to the US.

However, it’s unlikely that Ronaldo would entertain Mateus’ request, considering his previous statement that the Saudi league is superior to the MLS. Joining an MLS team would require him to retract his stance, which could create an awkward situation for the player.

Nevertheless, Ronaldo potentially moving to Major League Soccer would add another legendary player to the league and provide fans with the opportunity to witness the revival of his iconic rivalry with Lionel Messi. The prospect of seeing these two GOATs compete on the MLS stage would undoubtedly ignite excitement among fans, reminiscent of their battles in La Liga.
