The Toronto Raptors are gearing up for a busy offseason ahead, with the 2024 NBA Draft and the commencement of free agency on June 30 looming on the horizon.

This offseason presents an opportunity for the Raptors to maneuver, potentially leveraging significant cap space. Should they opt to part ways with Gary Trent Jr. and Bruce Brown, they could free up approximately $47 million in cap room.

Bleacher Report recently outlined three potential free agent targets for the Raptors this summer, categorizing them as reasonable, optimistic, and dream scenarios.

Kings guard Malik Monk out 4-6 weeks with sprained right MCL

In the reasonable category, Malik Monk emerges as a viable option. With the potential departure of Trent Jr. and Brown, the Raptors may seek to bolster their shooting guard position. Monk’s three-point shooting proficiency, averaging 37.8 percent over the past four seasons, could fill this need effectively.

For the optimistic outlook, Klay Thompson is mentioned. Despite being 34 and experiencing a decline in performance, Thompson’s steady three-point shooting and championship experience could add value to the Raptors’ roster. However, given Toronto’s current rebuilding phase, pursuing Thompson may not align with their long-term goals.

Finally, Buddy Hield represents the dream scenario for Toronto. Known for his exceptional three-point shooting, Hield could significantly improve the Raptors’ perimeter offense, complementing players like Barnes. Yet, securing Hield may prove challenging, considering the Philadelphia 76ers’ likely intent to re-sign him, given their possession of Hield’s Bird Rights.

While the Raptors’ main focus will likely be on retaining Immanuel Quickley this summer, the presence of teams like the San Antonio Spurs with ample cap space and a need for a young guard could add intrigue to the situation. Nonetheless, as Quickley is a restricted free agent, the Raptors retain the ability to match any offers he receives from other teams.
