Gus Malzahn and the UCF Knights bolstered their roster with the commitment of offensive lineman Keegan Smith, who transfers from Central Michigan.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 295 pounds, Smith hails from Jackson, Mississippi, and gained experience as the starting right guard for the Chippewas in 12 games during the 2023 season.
Smith’s addition marks the latest enhancement to an already impressive lineup of spring transfers at UCF, making him the eighth recruit acquired through the spring transfer portal window.
He joins a notable group that includes Cedric Hawkins from Ohio State, Nyjalik Kelly from Miami, Tre’Quon Fegands from USC, Jacurri Brown from Miami, Peny Boone from Toledo, Jacoby Jones from Ohio, and Sheldon Arnold from East Tennessee State.
Coming from Lumen Christi High School as a three-star prospect in the Class of 2020, Smith was ranked by the 247Sports index as the 1965th overall prospect in the nation. Additionally, he was rated as the 123rd player in his position and the 45th player in the state of Michigan.
The acquisition of Keegan Smith adds to the array of impressive moves made by Gus Malzahn’s coaching staff this offseason. With a revamped roster featuring proven talent from the transfer portal, UCF appears poised to make a championship run in the upcoming 2024-25 season.
