The Saints revamped Ryan Ramczyk’s contract during the offseason, securing $6.5 million guaranteed. Nick Underhill reported additional salary escalators in the agreement, comprising:
– $1 million for achieving All-Pro status
– Potential earnings of up to $6 million based on play-time incentives
– An extra $1 million if he participates in 90% of the Saints’ offensive snaps and the team secures a playoff victory
– Another $1 million bonus for making the Pro Bowl
In total, these incentives tally up to $9 million. However, there are concerns that Ramczyk might not take the field this season due to ongoing knee problems, as indicated by previous reports.
Underhill remains cautious about Ramczyk’s prospects for the current season, stating, “he’s still not expecting anything from him this season, but that’s how he can earn back the money if he surprises everyone and plays this year.”
Ramczyk, aged 30, was originally drafted by the Saints in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Initially signed to a four-year, $8.891 million contract, he had his fifth-year option exercised for the 2021 season.
Before the start of the 2021 season, Ramczyk inked a lucrative five-year, $96 million extension with the Saints, which replaced his previous contract. His base salary for the 2023 season stood at $14 million. Initially, his cap number for the 2024 season was projected to be $27.025 million, but the Saints restructured his deal during the offseason, reducing it to $12.86 million.
During the 2023 season, Ramczyk played in and started 12 games for the Saints at the right tackle position.
