Lance Leipold and the Kansas football coaching staff received another positive development in recruiting today with the commitment of Michigan State defensive end Bai Jobe for the upcoming season.

Jobe, a former highly regarded four-star recruit who was ranked as the top player in Oklahoma and the 73rd overall prospect in the 2023 class by Rivals, opted to join KU after visiting Lawrence and Mississippi State in recent days.

Jobe garnered attention from some of the nation’s top programs like Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Michigan, and Texas during his high school career.

Despite limited playing time at Michigan State, Jobe possesses the talent and potential sought after by the Kansas football coaching staff as they aim to fill the void left by Austin Booker’s departure to the NFL this offseason.

While returning senior Jereme Robinson is likely to have a secured starting position, Jobe will have the opportunity to vie for early playing time on the opposite edge alongside Auburn transfer Dylan Brooks and incoming four-star freshmen Dakyus Brinkley and Deshawn Warner.

A change of environment and new coaching leadership could be the catalyst for Jobe to unlock his full potential, a feat the Kansas coaching staff has demonstrated in the past with players like Booker and Lonnie Phelps, who have transitioned to the NFL.

If Jobe thrives under their guidance, the Kansas defense could see a significant improvement, potentially unearthing another standout talent destined for All-Big 12 honors and NFL Draft consideration.
