The Red Sox have garnered praise for their improved pitching staff this season, with progress evident throughout the organization.

Their pitching depth is on the rise across various levels.

Red Sox pitching prospect Luis Perales was promoted to Double-A Portland on Wednesday, according to Andrew Parker of Beyond the Monster. He joins a talented Sea Dogs roster featuring Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, Kyle Teel, and Wikelman Gonzalez, giving the team five of the top eight prospects in the organization.

Perales is ranked as the No. 8 prospect in the organization by SoxProspects.

“Perales has some elite fastball metrics, when it comes to shape and everything,” Ian Cundall of SoxProspects told NESN in March.

The 21-year-old recorded a 3.42 ERA with 46 strikeouts and 10 walks in seven starts for High-A Greenville, with opponents hitting .269 against him. He averaged an impressive 15.7 strikeouts per nine innings, reaching speeds of up to 99 mph this season.
