According to reports from Spain, Newcastle United have made a £35 million bid for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. The Magpies have been consistently interested in the La Liga goalkeeper.

Following Loris Karius’ departure as a free agent and uncertainties about Martin Dubravka’s future—with his contract expiring next summer—the club is in need of a new goalkeeper. Additionally, Nick Pope, who is 32 and recently returned from a long-term injury, has his long-term future with the club in question.

Newcastle has prioritized signing a new goalkeeper to address this crucial area of their squad. Journalist Pedro Morata reported that the Magpies have officially made a £35 million offer for Mamardashvili.

The move demonstrates Newcastle’s determination to strengthen their squad by signing a new goalkeeper after missing out on European football.

Despite qualifying for the Champions League in the 2022-23 season, their seventh-place finish in the league, coupled with Manchester United’s FA Cup win, has dashed their hopes of playing in European competitions next season.

Valencia has not yet responded to Newcastle United’s bid. According to journalist Pedro Morata, as reported by Spanish radio station COPE, Valencia’s owner Peter Lim has not decided whether to accept or reject the offer.

Mamardashvili is highly regarded at Newcastle, and the club is making significant efforts to bring him to St. James’ Park. Valencia is open to selling the goalkeeper this summer if their demands are met, and Newcastle is now waiting for their response.
