Watford target Ricardo Velho has been recognized for his impressive performances at Farense. According to newspaper Record, the 25-year-old has been voted as the top goalkeeper in the Portuguese league this season by coaches and team captains.

The publication emphasizes Velho’s outstanding displays, noting that he was named player of the month three times within a single year. Record also highlights that Velho is attracting interest from overseas clubs, with Watford and Sevilla leading the race for his signature.

Farense may allow the goalkeeper to depart this summer if an offer near his €10m release clause is made. Watford’s interest in Velho has been ongoing since April, with reports initially suggesting they were in pole position for his signature. Despite reports indicating increased efforts from Watford to secure the deal by ramping up contact, they have yet to submit a bid for the transfer.

Given Velho’s impressive season and growing recognition, Watford should be cautious as other potential suitors may emerge, potentially leading to heightened competition for his services.
