Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff are currently attending the NBPA Top 100 Camp at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando. They are evaluating potential recruits and keeping tabs on players already on their radar. Among the latter group is Brayden Burries, a long-time Duke recruit.
Burries showcased his skills during a game for the Rockets team against the Lakers at the event. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 200 pounds, Burries impressed with 18 points, five rebounds, and two assists. 247Sports’ Eric Bossi noted Burries’ proficiency as a sharpshooter and his ability to make plays both inside and outside, highlighting his understanding of his strengths and his competitive spirit. Bossi also emphasized Burries’ consistency in affirming his status as a top-15 player.
Burries’ playing style draws comparisons to Jared McCain, a recent Duke basketball guard who is projected to be a first-round draft pick. Both players share a sturdy physique, a smooth playing style, and hail from California. Scheyer has been actively recruiting Burries since the early stages of his recruitment.
Burries, a five-star prospect ranked 13th overall in the 247Sports 2025 Composite, visited Duke in September after receiving an offer from Scheyer and his coaching staff.
The 18-year-old, who was once considering reclassifying to the 2024 class, has not yet announced his finalists. He has also indicated that he is not in a hurry to make a decision regarding his college choice.
