Former Bristol Rovers academy forward Jordan Iwhiwhu is poised to secure a professional contract with Championship club Luton Town, as per Bristol Live sources. This comes just a few months after his release from Bristol Rovers.
Iwhiwhu, who joined Bristol Rovers alongside his brother Excel in March 2022, was let go earlier this year, while his brother remains part of the academy. The 17-year-old, a former student at Sir Thomas Rich’s School in Gloucester, continued his football journey at SGS College under the tutelage of former Leeds United manager Dave Hockaday.
During his time at SGS, Iwhiwhu also featured for Fulham Under-18s, debuting against Norwich City in March. Notably, he netted four goals in a single match against Luton, prompting the Hatters to offer him a two-and-a-half year deal ahead of Fulham.
Luton Town’s Under-18s compete in the EFL Youth Alliance, topping Group C with 38 points from 18 games last season, acting as a secondary division of Under-18s football beneath the Professional Development League.
Meanwhile, Rovers’ academy has produced notable talents like goalkeeper Jed Ward, who made a breakthrough into the first team last season, starting 18 out of the final 19 League One matches and earning two caps for England Under-20s recently.
Another academy product, Luca Hoole, amassed 25 appearances for Bristol Rovers last season, totaling 102 senior matches. However, his future at the club remains uncertain as there’s been no confirmation regarding his acceptance of the offered contract.
