Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell emerged as one of the league’s most electrifying players during his rookie season. Despite playing in only 11 games, he posted impressive stats with 47 catches for 709 yards and seven touchdowns, hinting at his potential to be one of the top receivers in the league.

Entering his second year, Dell is expected to once again demonstrate his significant playmaking abilities. CBS Sports has identified him as an exciting option for the Texans in the kickoff return game, particularly with the new kickoff rules set to take effect at the start of the 2024 season.

“Dell returned 11 punts and two kicks last season; but he was a big-play machine in the passing game, and with his speed, he’d make for a lights-out return man if he could find a hole in the defense,” they noted.

Last season, Dell returned 11 punts, averaging 9.1 yards per return, and two kickoffs, averaging 22.0 yards per return. While he wasn’t a mainstay in the return position, the new, safer kickoff rules may lead teams to use star players like Dell to make impactful plays.

Dell fits this role perfectly. His talent and speed have enabled him to create game-changing plays, and it would likely be thrilling to see him regularly returning kickoffs.
