Everton will shift their focus to securing Leeds United winger Jack Harrison on loan after acquiring Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa for £9m.
Due to financial constraints following a Premier League points deduction last season for breaching financial fair play rules, Everton’s budget is limited. However, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that after their initial summer signing of Iroegbunam, they are now targeting Harrison for another loan stint.
Harrison, formerly of Manchester City, joined Everton on loan last summer following Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League. Overcoming a hip injury, he became a key player for Sean Dyche, making 35 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals, and providing three assists.
With Leeds United needing to raise funds after failing to secure promotion, Harrison’s future is uncertain. Manager Daniel Farke has already confirmed that returning loanee Brenden Aaronson will be part of his squad, but decisions are pending for other players returning to Elland Road.
Marc Roca is expected to join Real Betis, and Borussia Monchengladbach is interested in retaining Max Wober after a season-long loan. Decisions are still needed for Rasmus Kristensen, Diego Llorente, and Harrison. While Leeds prefers to sell players to generate funds, a loan deal for Harrison would keep him as a Leeds player if they achieve promotion next season.
Romano announced on social media, “Everton have completed the deal to sign Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam for a fee around £9m, medical to follow. Next up: Jack Harrison on loan from Leeds Utd.”
Harrison initially joined Leeds on loan before signing permanently for around £11m in 2021. He has made 206 appearances for the club, scoring 34 goals.
