Get ready to blast “Welcome to the Jungle” and flash “Game Over” on the screens at Dodger Stadium, as one of baseball’s premier closers is set to return to Chavez Ravine on July 3rd to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Eric Gagné and the Los Angeles Dodgers will be commemorating the 20th anniversary of Gagné’s incredible feat of recording his 84th consecutive save, which still holds as the longest streak in MLB history.

This remarkable streak began on August 28, 2022, and concluded on July 5, 2004, during which Dodgers fans regularly witnessed “Game Over” displayed as Gagné entered from the bullpen to seal victories.

In 2003, Gagné’s standout year, he earned the Cy Young Award, becoming only the ninth reliever and second Canadian pitcher in MLB history to achieve this honor. He tied the NL single-season record with 55 saves and posted an exceptional 1.20 ERA.

Over his decade-long MLB career, Gagné amassed 187 saves, pitching across parts of 10 seasons with 33 wins, 26 losses, and a 3.47 ERA. He remains second in Dodgers history for saves (161) and strikeouts per nine innings (10.38).
