Preseason accolades are stacking up for Ashton Gillotte.
The Louisville defensive end has received another preseason All-American honor for the 2024 season, this time from Walter Camp. Gillotte was named a First-Team selection by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
This marks the third preseason All-American honor for Gillotte, as he was also selected as a preseason First-Team All-American by Phil Steele and Athlon Sports.
Last season, the 6-foot-3, 270-pound edge rusher started all 14 games, recording 14.5 tackles for loss, 11.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, and 45 total tackles. His sack total led the ACC, ranked eighth in the FBS, and is ninth on Louisville’s single-season sack list. According to Pro Football Focus, his 58 quarterback hurries were ninth in the FBS.
The Boca Raton, Fla. native received numerous accolades for his standout junior season, including First-Team All-ACC honors and being the runner-up for ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He also earned Second-Team All-American honors from Walter Camp, USA TODAY, Sports Illustrated, and The Athletic.
Entering his senior season, Gillotte has accumulated 29.5 tackles for loss, 22.0 sacks, four forced fumbles, and 88 total tackles in 37 career games with the Cardinals. He is currently 10th in all-time sacks in Louisville history.
The Cardinals concluded their 2023 season with a 10-4 record (7-1 in ACC), including their first-ever berth in the ACC Championship Game. Year two under head coach Jeff Brohm kicks off against Austin Peay on Saturday, Aug. 31 at L&N Stadium.
