The Los Angeles Dodgers have released infielder Jonathan Arauz, as indicated on his MLB.com profile.
Arauz spent the first three months of the season playing various infield positions for the Triple-A Oklahoma City Baseball Club, posting a .227/.286/.324 slash line.
He joined the Dodgers on a minor league deal in the offseason after opting for free agency when the New York Mets designated him for assignment at the end of the previous season. With the Mets, Arauz played in 100 games for the Triple-A Syracuse Mets and appeared in 27 games for the major league team.
Originally signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as an international free agent in 2014, Arauz made his professional debut at just 16. He was traded to Houston shortly after as part of the Ken Giles trade. He spent four years in the Astros’ minor league system before being selected by the Red Sox in the Rule 5 Draft ahead of the 2020 season.
During his time in the majors, Arauz has played for the Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, and Mets from 2020-23. Over 95 MLB games, he has a .184/.253/.308 slash line across 262 plate appearances.
