The Braves have been making numerous roster changes recently, and they’ve made more adjustments ahead of tonight’s game against the Diamondbacks. AJ Smith-Shawver is returning to Gwinnett after a brief stint with the major league team, and Ramon Laureano is finally being placed on the 10-day IL due to an oblique strain. In their place, the Braves are bringing back Dylan Lee after a short time in Gwinnett, and outfielder Brian Anderson is coming off the IL.
The #Braves today optioned RHP AJ Smith-Shawver to Triple-A Gwinnett, placed OF Ramón Laureano on the 10-day injured list, backdated to July 9, with a left oblique muscle strain, recalled LHP Dylan Lee to Atlanta and returned OF Brian Anderson from his rehabilitation assignment…

Smith-Shawver was called up yesterday as a precaution following an 11-inning game that exhausted most of the Braves bullpen. He will now head back to Gwinnett to continue his rehab assignments as a starting pitcher and is expected to be ready for the Braves again soon after the All-Star break.
Laureano should have been placed on the IL weeks ago after tweaking a muscle and not playing since June 26th, leaving the Braves short-handed. Brian Anderson will now provide additional outfield depth, while Dylan Lee will add a reliable arm to the bullpen.
