HITC understands that Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks to sign a key defender this summer.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s Nottingham Forest have been active in the transfer market, already securing goalkeeper Carlos Miguel and Newcastle United midfielder Elliot Anderson. It is expected to be a busy summer at the City Ground with both incoming and outgoing transfers. HITC has reported that several top Premier League clubs are interested in Brazilian defender Murillo, who had an outstanding debut season for the East Midlands club.
A new defender is a priority for Forest, and sources have informed HITC that they are in negotiations to sign Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic.
Forest are targeting Milenkovic, dubbed the ‘new Vidic,’ as they seek central defensive reinforcements following the sale of Moussa Niakhate to Lyon earlier this summer.
Milenkovic, 26, has become a key target for Forest, who have made a €15 million (£12.8 million) offer for him. The Serbian defender was previously close to moving to England with West Ham United.
Milenkovic made three appearances at the 2024 European Championship as Serbia was eliminated in the group stage in Germany. He has been nicknamed the “new Nemanja Vidic,” likely due to his Serbian heritage rather than a direct comparison in playing style.
