The Braves are approaching the trade deadline with key players on the injured list, but if Max Fried and Ozzie Albies return before October, a strong showing at the deadline could boost their chances of another World Series win. The pitching staff is solid, and a couple of hot bats in the playoffs could make a big difference.

Braves projected to trade for Randy Arozarena by ESPN

However, the Braves are unlikely to go all-in at the deadline, especially with Spencer Strider and Ronald Acuña Jr. out for the season and a weak farm system.

Despite this, ESPN’s David Schoenfield predicts the Braves will trade for Randy Arozarena, one of the most sought-after outfielders expected to be available.

Arozarena, under contract through 2026, brings a clubhouse presence similar to Joc Pederson’s in 2021 and has an impressive postseason track record, slugging .690 with 11 home runs in 33 career games. Although his first half has been subpar, this shouldn’t deter the Braves.

The Braves need an outfielder not just for this year but also for 2025, with Ronald Acuña Jr. likely facing restrictions next season after tearing his ACL for the second time in three years.

While a deal involving Bryce Elder might be straightforward, it will likely take a higher-upside prospect like Hurston Waldrep or A.J. Smith-Shawver to finalize the trade.

Prospects are best viewed as trade chips, and a proven player like Arozarena is more valuable than unproven prospects.
