The New England Patriots have invested heavily in their own players this offseason, including some who weren’t set to hit free agency until next year.
One such player is defensive lineman Davon Godchaux, who signed a two-year extension at the end of July. The details of the deal have now been revealed.
According to Over the Cap, Godchaux will earn fully guaranteed salaries of $1.65 million in 2024, $4 million in 2025, and $6.5 million in 2026. His signing bonuses total $13.5 million, with $6.83 million in 2024 and $3.33 million in both 2025 and 2026. Additionally, he’ll receive per-game roster bonuses of $1 million in 2024, $850,000 in 2025, and $1.75 million in 2026, along with workout bonuses of $150,000 in 2024 and 2025, and $250,000 in 2026.
Godchaux’s cap hits are $9.63 million in 2024, $8.33 million in 2025, and $11.83 million in 2026. The Patriots could opt to release him before the 2026 season, saving $8.5 million while incurring a dead cap hit of $3.33 million.
