Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger will not be in the lineup on Sunday due to a quad injury sustained during Saturday’s game.

According to Adam Jude of the Seattle Times:

Haniger left the game in the fifth inning after suffering the injury and was replaced in right field by Luke Raley. Despite Haniger’s recent struggles this season, batting only .211, he has shown improvement, hitting .261 over his last seven games and .255 over his last 15. For the season, he has 11 home runs and 43 RBIs.

Dominic Canzone will take over in right field for Haniger, while Raley will shift to left field and Julio Rodriguez will serve as the designated hitter.

Haniger, who rejoined the Mariners this offseason after being traded from the San Francisco Giants, has had a notable career, including a 2017-2022 stint with Seattle where he made one All-Star Game and hit a career-high 39 home runs in 2021.

The Mariners will face the Pirates on Sunday morning at 10:35 a.m. PT, with George Kirby starting on the mound for Seattle.
