Former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Anthony Brown is reportedly signing with the Buffalo Bills, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Brown, 26, joined the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon in 2022. He spent most of his rookie year on the practice squad but made appearances in two regular-season games. His debut came on December 11, 2022, when he filled in for Tyler Huntley against the Pittsburgh Steelers, completing three of five passes for 16 yards.
His second appearance was more significant, as he started the regular-season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals due to injuries to Huntley and Lamar Jackson. However, Brown struggled, completing just 19 of 44 passes for 286 yards and committing three turnovers (two interceptions and one fumble) in a 27-16 loss.
Brown rejoined the Ravens’ practice squad on August 29, 2023, but was released shortly after. He then signed a reserve/future contract with the Las Vegas Raiders in January but was released after a poor performance in their preseason opener.
Now, Brown is heading to Buffalo to add quarterback depth, though it’s unclear how long he will stay. The Bills are dealing with injuries to backup quarterbacks Mitch Trubisky and Shane Buechele. With starters sitting out the preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers, Brown’s signing may be to ensure they have another quarterback available for that game.
Brown’s college career spanned five seasons—three at Boston College and two at Oregon—where he threw for 7,891 yards, 61 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions while adding 1,121 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground.
