The Chicago Bears have officially released defensive end Khalid Kareem and wide receiver Freddie Swain from their injured reserve list through an injury settlement, as reported by Courtney Cronin. This decision follows the Bears’ recent trade to acquire outside linebacker Darrell Taylor from the Seahawks.

Swain, who was placed on Chicago’s injured reserve earlier this week, is a 25-year-old former sixth-round pick by the Seahawks in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Florida. He was in the third year of his four-year, $3.42 million rookie contract when Seattle released him during training camp.

After being cut by the Seahawks, Swain quickly joined the Dolphins’ practice squad and was later signed to the Broncos’ active roster. However, Denver released him in March, leading to another brief stint with the Dolphins. After being cut by Miami during training camp, Swain spent time with the Eagles before rejoining the Dolphins’ practice squad in October last year. The Bears signed him to a contract in May.

In 2022, Swain appeared in four games for the Broncos and Dolphins, recording four receptions for 74 yards with no touchdowns.
