According to Aaron Wilson, the Eagles have released veteran offensive lineman Max Scharping. With his experience, Scharping could attract interest later this week, either from another team or potentially returning to the Eagles’ practice squad. As a veteran, Scharping does not have to go through waivers, so there might be an informal agreement with Philadelphia to bring him back.
Scharping, 28, was drafted by the Texans in the second round out of Northern Illinois in 2019. He was in the final year of his four-year, $5 million rookie contract, which included $2.9 million guaranteed when the Texans waived him after the preseason. He was then claimed by the Bengals, where he finished out his contract. Cincinnati re-signed him to a one-year deal for the 2023 season.
Scharping played all 17 games for the Bengals in 2023 without making any starts. He then signed a one-year deal with the Eagles in 2024.
