The Miami Marlins placed utility player Vidal Brujan on the 10-day injured list on Saturday due to a right shoulder AC joint sprain.
In corresponding moves, the Marlins selected infielder Jose Devers’ contract from Triple-A Jacksonville and designated rookie left-hander Jonathan Bermudez for assignment.
Brujan, 26, last played shortstop in the Marlins’ 3-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Friday. He is hitting .224 with 14 doubles, two home runs, and 16 RBIs across 98 games this season. Throughout the year, he has played second base, shortstop, third base, all three outfield positions, and even pitched.
Brujan has a career batting average of .190 with 21 doubles, five home runs, and 40 RBIs in 197 games over parts of four seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays (2021-23) and Marlins.
Devers, 24, was hitting .244 with three home runs and 20 RBIs in 64 games across Miami’s Triple-A, Single-A, and Rookie League affiliates this season. He played in 21 games for Miami in 2021, batting .244 (10-for-41).
Bermudez, 28, made his MLB debut on Tuesday, allowing two runs and six hits with no walks and three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings during a 9-8 victory over the Colorado Rockies, posting a 4.91 ERA.
