There’s a lot of optimism around the Miami Dolphins heading into 2024, fueled by the head coach’s new contract and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s confidence in his offensive line. With the season approaching, here are some bold predictions for the Dolphins.

It’s no surprise these predictions begin with the quarterback. Tagovailoa is expected to have a strong year, leading a dynamic offense.

**Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa to Set a Career High:** Tagovailoa is likely to surpass his career-best of 29 touchdown passes from last year. While his total yardage might dip from the 4,624 yards he achieved, he’ll become more efficient, potentially throwing for 35 touchdowns this season.

Head coach Mike McDaniel expressed confidence in Tagovailoa’s readiness for the season’s challenges, highlighting the pressure and expectations that come with the role.

McDaniel emphasized the importance of personal expectations and understanding the team’s role in achieving success. He noted that focusing on internal expectations rather than external ones is crucial for generating powerful results.

**Is Tagovailoa Ready to Step Up?** Tagovailoa’s character and mindset make him well-suited to handle a season of high expectations. If he can stay on this path, the Dolphins are poised to win many games. According to McDaniel, success will depend on Tagovailoa maintaining control.

**RB Devon Achane’s Breakout Year:** Achane, who already showed potential by averaging 7.8 yards per carry and scoring 11 touchdowns in 2023, is expected to surpass those numbers this season. Despite his per-carry average likely normalizing, he should still be highly productive, potentially exceeding 1,000 rushing yards and approaching 1,500 total yards with 15 touchdowns.

McDaniel praised Achane’s strength gains and dedication, suggesting the young running back is hungry for more success in his sophomore year.

**DE Calais Campbell to Add 7 Sacks:** At age 38, Campbell is expected to tally seven sacks, his best since 2018. Despite his age, Campbell continues to make plays, and McDaniel praised his consistency and passion for the game.

**TE Tanner Conner to Catch Two TDs:** Conner, an undrafted free agent who played in 13 games in 2022, is set for a breakout year. McDaniel highlighted Conner’s unique versatility and his deep understanding of the offense.

**Dolphins’ Offensive Line to Finish in the Top 10:** Despite starting the season ranked No. 18, the Dolphins’ offensive line is expected to improve, benefiting from continuity in McDaniel’s system and Tagovailoa’s quick release.

**Dolphins to Reach the AFC Championship Game:** Although the Dolphins might fall short against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship, it would still mark significant progress for a franchise that has struggled in the postseason for years. The Dolphins haven’t won two playoff games in the same season since 1992, but with McDaniel’s leadership and the players’ support, they are on the path to success.
