Florida State hasn’t had much success on the field through the first two games of the 2024 season, but their recruiting efforts have been a bright spot as they work to solidify their 2025 class and build on a strong 2026 haul.

On Wednesday evening, four-star linebacker Izayia Williams announced his commitment to the Seminoles, choosing FSU over offers from top programs like Florida, Miami, Michigan, and Ole Miss. Williams had just visited Tallahassee, where he watched the Seminoles face off against Boston College at Doak Campbell Stadium.

Though the timing of the commitment may not catch the attention of all fans, Williams is a valuable addition to the Seminoles’ 2026 class. He is coming off an impressive sophomore season, recording 40 tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception, and three pass deflections.

Williams is now the second-highest-ranked commit in Florida State’s #Tribe26 class. Known for his physicality, he’s a force on the field, rarely giving ground when making contact. His speed also stands out, reportedly running an 11.1-second 100-meter dash. After leading Leesburg High School to the playoffs last season, he’s now playing for Tavares High School.

Previously committed to Syracuse under new head coach Fran Brown, Williams re-opened his recruitment in August before committing to Florida State less than a month later.

With Williams’ commitment, Florida State now boasts six verbal commitments in its 2026 class, which continues to rank No. 1 in the country. Alongside Williams, the class includes four-star quarterback Brady Smigiel, four-star wide receiver Darryon Williams, four-star defensive back Efrem White, and three-star prospects Darryl Bell III (safety) and Tedarius Hughes.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound linebacker is ranked as the No. 96 overall prospect, the No. 7 linebacker, and the No. 16 recruit in Florida for the 2026 class, according to 247Sports.
