The past few weeks have been challenging for Florida State football and its fans, so it’s a relief for head coach Mike Norvell and his staff to secure a major recruiting victory.
While it remains uncertain how the team will fare on the field this season, their future success will heavily rely on strong recruiting efforts.
In this regard, it’s significant that four-star linebacker Izayia Williams, a 2026 prospect, has committed to Florida State over offers from Florida, USF, UCF, and Georgia. Not only is beating out Georgia a notable achievement, but surpassing three other in-state rivals adds to the significance of this win.
Norvell shared his enthusiasm on X, formerly known as Twitter:

Williams is recognized for his potential as a standout recruit and a hard hitter. Although he still has his junior and senior seasons of high school ahead of him, he is highly regarded, ranked as the No. 7 linebacker in the 2026 class and a top-100 national recruit (No. 96) according to the 247Sports composite.
Williams’ commitment to FSU is particularly notable since he attended the Seminoles’ recent home loss to Boston College, which left them with a 0-2 record for the season.
