The Dallas Mavericks recently announced a new TV deal for the upcoming 2024-25 season. While Luka Doncic was overseas before rejoining his team for an off-season minicamp, the Mavericks secured a multi-year agreement with TEGNA. This deal will provide fans in North Texas free access to games through a partnership with WFAA Ch. 8 and KMPX Ch. 29, making telecasts available to more than 3.1 million households.

The Mavericks shared the news on their X account (formerly Twitter). For fans in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, a free digital TV antenna will allow access to 15 non-nationally exclusive games airing on WFAA and KMPX.

As for the 2024-25 season, all eyes are on Luka Doncic and the Mavericks, who are coming off a loss to the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals. With key off-season additions like Klay Thompson, Dallas has bolstered its offense, but Doncic’s fitness and performance will be a central storyline. His conditioning became a topic of conversation during the Finals, where Boston’s defense exposed his limitations by forcing him to guard stars like Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. Doncic, at times, seemed fatigued and struggled defensively, notably fouling out in Game 3 of their 106-99 loss, leading to national scrutiny about his fitness level.

However, recent photos of Doncic on the court have eased some concerns about his shape. Additionally, the Mavs have reportedly been conducting off-season workouts in Los Angeles, with NBA insider Marc Stein noting that the minicamp was positive both on and off the court. Stein highlighted that nearly the entire team, minus the two international players, attended the bonding and workout sessions.

The Mavericks will begin their preseason schedule against the Memphis Grizzlies on October 7.
