The Los Angeles Clippers are adding shooting guard Alondes Williams to their training camp roster, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Williams, 25, is 6-foot-4 and appeared in seven games for the Miami Heat last season under a two-way contract. He also played one game with the Brooklyn Nets as a rookie during the 2022-23 season.
Winderman highlighted that with Williams joining the Clippers, all three players who ended last season on two-way contracts with the Heat have now signed elsewhere this offseason. Williams will be joined by Cole Swider, who is headed to training camp with the Indiana Pacers, and Jamal Cain, who signed a two-way deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. Swider, like Williams, also agreed to a camp tryout.
The Heat have already reached their maximum of three two-way players for the upcoming NBA season as training camp approaches. According to Winderman, the Heat currently have Josh Christopher, a former first-round pick by the Houston Rockets, undrafted Arizona forward Keshad Johnson, and returning guard Dru Smith under two-way contracts.
Interestingly, if Williams does not make the Clippers’ regular-season roster, his G League rights would still belong to the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Miami Heat’s affiliate. Although the specifics of Williams’ contract with the Clippers have not been disclosed, it’s likely an Exhibit 10 deal.
This type of contract is non-guaranteed and for the league minimum, and it doesn’t count toward the salary cap unless the player makes the team. The contract can also be converted into a two-way deal or provide guaranteed money if the player is waived and remains with the G League team for 60 days.
