The Chicago Bears and their rookie quarterback Caleb Williams are off to a 1-1 start in the 2024 NFL season after a recent loss to the Houston Texans, led by rising star C.J. Stroud. Stroud, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, outdueled Williams, the top pick in the 2024 draft, in their Week 2 matchup.

Williams, facing significant challenges early in his NFL career, has struggled through his first two games, particularly due to playing behind one of the league’s weakest offensive lines. Despite these obstacles, he led the Bears to a thrilling comeback victory in Week 1 and kept his team competitive against Stroud and the Texans.

After Houston’s 19-13 win over Chicago, the two young quarterbacks met at midfield. Stroud, who is coming off an impressive rookie season capped by a playoff victory, attempted to offer Williams advice as he navigates his early NFL struggles. Both players, 22 years old and considered future stars, share a mutual respect, with Stroud having previously praised Williams’ talent and potential.

Stroud’s comments ahead of the game included high praise for Williams. “He’s definitely a playmaker, somebody who can extend plays and make all the cool throws, a tough player who takes hits,” Stroud said. “He’s really talented, and I believe great things are coming in his career once he finds his rhythm.”

While many fans applauded Stroud’s leadership for offering guidance to Williams, some felt Williams’ response lacked respect. Critics claimed he was dismissive in the post-game exchange, while others defended the rookie, understanding his frustration after his first NFL loss.
