Four-star safety Jordan Young, a highly sought-after prospect from Monroe, North Carolina, is set to announce his college decision on November 2. Young is considering Michigan along with NC State, Clemson, and Florida State. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, he is the 101st overall recruit in the 2025 class and the 10th-ranked safety.

While Michigan is in the running, the Wolverines are not seen as the frontrunner for Young’s commitment. Crystal Ball predictions favor both Clemson and NC State, with NC State holding a 93.2% chance of landing him, according to On3’s projections. Michigan’s chances, however, are less than 1%.
Young has visited Michigan twice, but his four visits to Clemson and three to NC State indicate stronger ties to those programs. For the Wolverines to secure his commitment, they would need to make a significant impact in the coming weeks leading up to his decision.
A scouting report by 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins highlights Young’s versatility and potential as a defensive playmaker. Although Young has showcased his offensive skills in high school, he is projected to excel as a safety at the college level due to his awareness, range, and ball skills. Ivins notes that Young has impressive athleticism, especially in the triple jump, and is comfortable playing in off-man coverage. He also shows strong tackling ability and foot speed, which allows him to close gaps and take proper angles in pursuit. While he is still lean, Young has demonstrated the strength and agility to be an effective tackler in short-yardage situations. As a receiver, he has also proven to be a tough matchup on vertical routes with the speed to create plays after the catch.
Overall, Young is seen as a potential impact player at the Power Four level with the upside to become a multi-year starter, particularly in a split-safety alignment.
