Michigan football remains a strong contender in the recruitment of five-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola, and recent developments have fueled interest in this elite 2025 prospect. The Wolverines showcased their powerful running game during their 27-24 victory over USC, rushing for an impressive 290 yards. While this performance may not have highlighted the offensive skill players, it certainly caught the attention of offensive line recruits, demonstrating how effectively the Michigan offensive line dominated the field.

Quarterback Alex Orji had a modest outing, completing only 32 passing yards, which shifted the focus entirely onto the offensive line and running backs. This allowed the offensive line to take center stage, and they delivered an outstanding performance. On average, running backs gained three yards before facing contact, marking the best average of the season for the Wolverines’ offensive line.

Although there were minor issues, the offensive line’s performance was solid enough to impress potential recruits. This is particularly important as Michigan seeks to secure a commitment from Babalola, who stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs 280 pounds and hails from Kansas, the same state as Michigan’s head coach, Sherrone Moore. Babalola is currently ranked 24th overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings, making him a highly sought-after recruit.

Initially, Babalola had indicated that he would make a decision around the start of the high school regular season, and he even set a specific date a few weeks ago. However, that date has passed without a commitment. The final contenders for his services include Michigan, Stanford, Auburn, Oklahoma, and Missouri. Recently, Babalola expressed that he aims to announce his decision by the end of the regular season, further highlighting Michigan’s reputation as an “OL factory.”

While it remains unclear if Babalola’s commitment is imminent, indications suggest that Auburn may currently be in the lead. However, there is still time for Michigan to make a significant impression, and fans should not count them out just yet.
